Function of Art
Our minds are busy all the time.We have a running dialogue with ourselves about the world around us, our past, our future, our present.Our subconscious mind presents itself in this process through gut feelings, biases, and preferences.We often act on these feelings without knowing why.What would our lives look like if we turned this conversation inward; dialogued with ourselves?How would our subconscious guide us, and what would it say?Would our lives be lived with intelligent intuition?
The artists represented by Austin Art Start demonstrate what can happen when one purposely opens the mind to these conversations.Each allows what emerges to direct the outcome.They approach their work with a desire to see what will reveal itself in the act of creation.As the work proceeds they feel as if the painting or sculpture is taking an active role in the process.It is an open dialogue between the artist and him or herself, and between the artist and the art.Viewing it, you join the conversation.
Art opens the mind.Art can bring our subconscious to the surface and give it a voice.What is our reaction when we see something that stirs us?Does it provoke?Does it calm?I invite you to listen; both to what the artists have to say, and to what you have to say in return.Give your subconscious voice.
Private guided Austin studio tours can be arranged on a half or full day basis for groups up to 45. These tours take you into the studios of some of Austin's most exciting artists where you meet the artist and view new work. Corporate and Group Tours are available.
